I am not going to write the song of Haddaway and its cliché to write about the love but I have to try. Love is kind of big deal in the world; all the world’s problems can’t compete with the problem of love. The etymology of word love derived from the Old English lufu, of Germanic origin; from an Indo-European root shared by Sanskrit lubhyati ‘desires’, Latin libet ‘it is pleasing’, libido ‘desire’, also by leave and life (Copied from the internet). The word love is often confusing and has different perspectives and love can’t be the same for every individual or materialistic things. All my internet research concludes that love is affection, compassion and kindness towards something living and non-living. When I dug deeper about the love of couple (people are interested only in that concept) thousands of movies made on love and books are written and there no end to it and it’s still a mystery (that’s absurd). I often asked people what is love? Some said its affections, some said the understanding between partners, some said its all sex, some said it’s about caring each other, some said it’s accepting the flaws of other people, some said I don’t believe in love. Then I asked them, whether the concept of love according to movies, books, poets and philosophers has any real-life significance? The answer was Yes and no! And I can’t blame them. Like the other mental and physical hormonal changes in the body, love is the same but we have been bombarded with the idea of love for many centuries that love is everything, unique and mystical. If you are not in love than you have no reason to live, I love that pure than why people are getting divorced and breaking up all the time. The influence is key derivate for any outcome of love if you are influenced by the idea of Bollywood movies, Philosophy, parents, science, and porn etc.
It will be futile if I don’t write about the scientific perspective. According to science, there are basic hormonal changes lead to love as Lust from estrogen and testosterone for men and women. Adrenaline, dopamine and serotonin hormones responsible for attraction and excitement. If the love is just a reflection of hormonal changes than why this big deal? The question I asked to myself most of the time but never got the answer.
People are often confused with the idea of chemistry, affection, physical attributes, humour and feeling good about someone but that’s just result of hormonal process. Internet is filled with the very concept of love. I feel that it’s just superficial and like asking someone what’s the colour of water? There won’t be the same answer and no one knows the answer and the same goes for the love. People will tell their experiences about love but would they be same for you as well? That’s the question you need to ask before jumping on the conclusion of love. Concept of love is overrated, exaggerated, and incorrigible.
