The Great Gullibility

“When emotion supersedes reason …gullibility must follow – Barbara Mertz”

Common sense is very uncommon in the modern world, and everything which can’t be understood leads to gullibility. You can’t underestimate the people who have a tremendous capability of surrendering to tricksters and those who have the power to trick people. The social media has provided a unique platform to people who wants to dupe naïve people. We come across several bizarre news, scams, fake stories, and conspiracy theories, still we believe in the ridiculous shit without giving any thought.

In recent times, we must have heard that someone was duped into the super quick rich scheme. There are tons of incidents appeared in recent past, yet there is no stopping to such incidents – the absence of common sense is the main reason.

Why are people so gullible?

It all starts with sensation, the sensationalism shut down the thinking software, and then, we are left with the naïve hardware which does not ask questions – instead accept everything. The American rapper B.o.B thought that earth is flat, and he fell for the conspiracy theory to such extent that he started raising funds to check whether the earth was flat or not. So you see, it’s not about common people but lack of common sense.

How to avoid gullibility?

Firstly, avoid anything which seems ridiculously easy like becoming billionaire in 7 days, 1000% return in the stock market, with one click become the CEO of XYZ company. Secondly, stop paying attention to sensational news.

The overconfident stupidity is far more dangerous than global warming because global warming is perceived as hoax nowadays.
