Motivation is a Myth

I love motivation more than Scarlett johanson however, the only problem with motivation is that it’s way out of my league. The motivational gurus are the reason for my unconditional love towards it but, they are brilliant manipulators. Every motivational session starts with the quote – quit your job and follow your passion. Yeah, that’s what I wanted to hear. If I quit my job then, I have to eat my dog’s food. In the end, they would say never quit and keep going – one day you will be successful. Sometimes I feel that I got the interstellar movie but, I can’t be sure about motivational gurus.

Once my company arranged a motivational session. And a guest speaker came and started shouting repeat after me guys, you are your own master. I was thinking – is he high on weed? Or is he unaware that he is in the corporate office? The guy next to him is my master (AKA boss). He was also confused about whether to repeat or not. In the end, I knew that I can also pull this off. What is need is – a weird suit and smirk face.

Motivational videos: The recent motivational videos are cringe, and their caption would be like the secret of becoming a billionaire, successful, happy, and so on. If you had a secret of becoming rich, why would you share it with others? What is the motivation behind it? Making money out of it is the biggest motivation.  They become millionaires by selling books or online courses, and we become addicts.

Demotivation: We need to promote demotivation to balance out things. And things go sideways when left unchecked. Motivational gurus have been giving us motivational injections without a prescription, and the more you get it, the more you crave it.

Instant gratification: The whole USP of motivation is instant gratification, and we love it. When we get something by doing nothing, it feels wondrous, and the more is always better.

Motivation has always been cheap dopamine, and we never figured it out. We believed in motivation wholeheartedly only to find out – it’s hokum.

  1. Motivational speach is just good to listen n be motivated during the time of speach. If tge decision is taken right at tge moment yes we need to eat dogs food as you said. Self consciousness n self thinking is the right Motivation as per me. Great article Dee Cee. I liked it much.

  2. I dont know if its me, but the biggest motivation I feel when I read and think about the unimaginable space. I always have a strange feeling that how significant and insignificant everything can be.
Whenever I feel down, just step outside and look at the sky and wonder. It calm me for a while.

    1. Motivation has to be from inside. You won’t required anybody’s opinions to feel motivated.

  5. So true, for me consistency is motivation. I may not be 10/10 all days. Somedays I can be 5/10 and some days 1/10, as long as I Get up, and get the work done I feel I am okay.

I don’t let failure blur my goals. My goals may change with time and life events. But I believe in living life with certain goals

    Great post

  7. Man….you just wrote my heart out… motivation cannot be whimsical spur of the moment kind of thing, it has to be well thought out and a calculated step…or else like you said…dog food awaits 😂😂😂😂

    1. We give more importance to motivation than action. That’s why people don’t move ahead.

  10. Motivation decreases after awhile because disciple is what keeps you going and on sight for what you’re after. The goals and dreams you set are dictated by you & you only. It’s up to US to feel motivated and doing things we don’t like or else why would we be doing them? I also blog about things like this, feel free to go check it out when you have the time. Loved what you wrote you here my friend, a lot of people need to see this. Have a good day !
