Vlog, Vloggers and YouTube

Perhaps people have been interested in other people’s lives for ages, even the early Homo sapiens used to watch the lives of Neanderthal, and that’s how vlog started. Earlier it was known as peeking, and now it’s known as vlog but, the equation has changed. Now, people want other people to peek into their lives, and it’s weird. The unemployed people now are vloggers. I don’t hate vlogs, and vlogs are great – I am not a fan of seeing other people’s fake life on YouTube and think about my life – which is not that great. Vlogs on YouTube is like salt in the coffee, YouTube is for videos – not for weird videos.

Fake vlogs: Even if a plumber comes to my home, I dress up as I don’t want to be in weird shorts in front of strangers. Everything is a setup like a movie set. Sometimes I feel there are more people bored than the total population because how would you justify millions of views on videos of kitchen tours?

Family vlogs: If YouTube goes down then, family vlogs would be the sole reason. Family vlogs are nothing but behind the scenes of keeping up with the Kardashians except Kardashians. I can’t insist on family vlogs as they don’t deserve to be in the first place.

Food vloggers: Food has no boundary, and it connects people from all over the world. I am in total agreement. There was a time when I used to admire the food preparation blogs. Now it’s not about food anymore but how good a food experimenter you are. The most obnoxious food preparation will get more likes. Because of that few notable food items were invented – pineapple pizza, tandoor noodles, half KG butter omelette and finally cheese in everything, and I meant everything. Cheese and butter are the USP of food vlogs in India, and sometimes I feel how the owners of food joints earn as their 90% of expense goes into cheese and butter.

Travel vlogs: Travel bloggers thinks that they are exploring undisclosed location and every location can become untravelled with a high-quality camera and superior editing skills. If you know how to book tickets then, you can become a travel blogger. Everything seems unexpected in travel blogs like people inviting you to their place to eat, unseen views from the top, finding hidden paths etc. Travel is supposed to be for fun, not for pretentious acting.

Once upon a time, YouTube was a great platform, and I never got any suggestions which I did not want to watch. Now I watch videos that I am not supposed to be watching -vlogs.

Thanks for reading and do let me know in comments what do you think about the vloggers 🙂

      4. For different taste you need to put cheese just like street food vendors – in bulk 😂

      5. Right😅
But I was sceptical about how it would turn out to be (not the mention the expenses!)

  4. People will be interested in other lives of content creators just like you and I. We blog about things we are passionate about but they’re only showing us 1/3 of their life. Their life isn’t always glamorous because they’re only showing us what they’re doing on Camera. Off-camera is a completely different story.
